Spreading Kindness in the Community with Painted Rocks

Join us on March 25 to Paint Together

By Jessi Chang and Macaroni Kid Publisher, Jamie Schlechter March 15, 2017

Join us in Spreading Kindness throughout Carver County and local communities. The Kindness Rock Project is a great way to be creative and spread joy throughout the community. The idea is to paint rocks with inspirational messages and leave them throughout the community spreading kindness.  If you find a rock, you can leave it for someone else to find, hide it in a different location, or keep it and consider painting a rock of your own to replace the one you’ve kept.

Local Mom Jessi and her daughter have been painting rocks and brightening up their neighborhood. Here are her tips on painting rocks at home.

  • Collect rocks by going on a nature hike or pick up a small bag at craft or dollar store.
  • The kids can have fun cleaning them in a bowl of soapy water or bring in the water table from storage.
  • Painting is easy and fun! Acrylics work best for weather but can damage clothing.
  • Write simple messages in Sharpie (You are special, You are kind, I like you, etc)
  • Scatter for others to find. Make a special trip or just put some in the car to drop while running errands.

This is a fun project to do with your family. It gives you a chance to be creative and spread joy to others.

Macaroni Kid Carver will be hosting a Free Rock Painting Party on March 25. Let's join as a community and spread kindness together. Sponsored with The Mustard Seed.
