Outdoor Summer Camps for Ages 5-15

Carver County Parks partners with City Parks and Recreation Departments, Community Education and School Districts to provide outstanding Day Camp opportunities.  If your child is interested in Archery, Canoeing, Paddleboarding, Log Rolling, Geocaching, Survival Skills, or just enjoys being outdoors then one of our day camps will be the perfect summer adventure! Register soon camps are filling up fast.


Waconia Adventure Camp June 3-6, 2019

If your child loves playing the outdoors, this camp is for them! Your adventurous camper will get to hone their aim with archery, splash on our stand-up paddleboards, balance their best on the slackline and log rolling, play a variety of group games and get out geocaching for s’mores with our fun-loving instructors. This camp is based around experiential learning in the outdoors! Instructors will cover activity basics, safety procedures, history of the activity, tips for future success and more! All equipment will be provided.

Lake Minnewashta Adventure Camp June 10-13, 2019

Get outside and connected with other kids at our Minnewashta Outdoor Adventure Camp!  This camp will provide opportunities to try outdoor recreation activities like stand-up paddle boarding, archery, survival skills, geocaching, high ropes course and a climbing wall.  Campers will also experience activities focused on everything from physics to crafts to animal science.  This camp is focused on the outdoors, experiential adventure learning and all-around summer FUN!    

Be prepared for various weather conditions: pack a backpack with towel, change of clothes, sunscreen, bug repellent, ball cap, closed toe shoes, reusable water bottle, snacks, and peanut free bag lunch daily.

Archery Camp June 18-20, 2019

Get your archers outdoors this summer at our Archery Camp! Campers will be introduced to the basics of archery by trained Carver County Parks Department instructors. Through fun games and experiential learning, participants will learn range safety and proper techniques for stance, aim, and release to become more consistent archers. Campers will get the opportunity to shoot both compound and recurve bows at various target styles. Campers should come prepared for the weather conditions and should pack a backpack with snacks, reusable water bottle, hat or sun glasses and close-toed shoes. All other equipment will be provided.

Outdoor Cooking Camp June 18-20, 2019

Join the ranks of outdoor chefs during this deliciously fun half-day camp! Campers will learn to cook outdoors with methods ranging from a campfire to solar power while trying out new recipes each day. As a bonus, campers will get to try other Carver County Parks activities like slacklining and disc golf! Snacks and all other equipment provided.

Baylor Adventure Camp June 24-27, 2019

Mornings are filled with exciting activities and presentations that revolve around a common theme. During the afternoon children will complete fun 4-H projects and play team building games. In partnership between Carver County Parks, Watertown-Mayer & NYA Community Education Departments.

Little Lumberjacks Camp July 2, 2019

Experience Minnesota History firsthand with logrolling & lumberjack-themed activities!  Roll your way into the past as a Minnesota lumberjack.  Also enjoy general summer camp fun at Lake Minnewashta Regional Park!  Offered in partnership with Carver County Parks and the Historical Society.

Artemis Camp July 16 - July 18, 2019

Does your daughter want to be an archer as famous as Katniss Everdeen, skillful as Artemis or just want to put Robin Hood in his place? Then this camp is her place to train and make new archery friends! Through fun games and experiential learning, participants will learn range safety and proper techniques for stance, aim, and release to improve their shot. Campers will get the opportunity to shoot both compound and recurve bows at various target styles. All equipment is provided. This camp will be held outdoors at Lake Minnewashta Park and is a partnership between Carver County Parks Department, the City of Chanhassen Parks Department and Eastern Carver County Schools Community Education.

Wild Encounters Camp July 23-26, 2019

If your child is enthusiastic about trying new outdoor activities, they will fit right in at Wild Encounters! Campers will challenge themselves to hone their aim with archery, test their balance on stand-up paddleboards & slackline, splash while log rolling, tour in canoes and get out geocaching for s’mores with our fun-loving instructors. Instructors will cover activity basics, safety procedures, history of the activity, tips for future success and much more! All equipment will be provided. Offered in partnership with Carver County Parks and Watertown Comm Ed.

Activities will take place at the Watertown-Mayer Primary School and at Lake Waconia Regional Park. When in Waconia campers will be transported to the park.

Extreme Explorers Camp July 30 - August 1, 2019

If your child is enthusiastic about trying new outdoor activities, they will fit right in at Extreme Explorers! Staff will accompany campers as they bike between the Victoria Recreation Center and the VictoriaLibrary daily along city and regional trails. Between the two host locations, campers will explore the outdoors and scientific activities!
Canoe on Stieger Lake followed by an archery field trip to Cabin Fever during this all-day adventure! Bikes will remain secured at the Victoria Recreation Center (indoors) overnight. Bikes & helmets are required and should be dropped off on Tuesday and picked up on Thursday. Offered in partnership with Carver County Parks, Parks and Rec, Libraries, and Historical Society.

Minecraft Camp August 5, 2019

Inspired by the popular video game, this camp takes many of the challenges and concepts from Minecraft into the real world. Build a shelter, cook food over a fire, navigate the wilderness and learn to shoot a bow! These are just a few of the activities that your child will learn how to do in real life! Campers should come prepared for the outdoors with a backpack, snack, sunscreen, bug spray, reusable water bottle, & closed toe shoes. This program takes place at Riverside Park in Carver and is a partnership between Carver County Parks, the City of Carver & Chaska Parks & Recreation.

Beginner Archery Camp August 6-8, 2019

Voyageur Camp August 12-15, 2019

Previously known as Kid’s Life Camp, this four day camp will take your child around the community of Waconia to experience the outdoors through the lenses of science and history like never before. Inspired by the Voyageurs of the 18th century who traveled northern Minnesota and Canada as part of the fur trade, this camp provides activities and experiences that reflect the adventurous life style of Minnesota’s past. Embark on a canoe excursion to Coney Island, fish the lake with a genuine bamboo cane pole and shoot arrows like a primitive hunter! Spend the day at the Andrew Peterson Historical Farm learning to churn butter, make homemade ice cream, tap a maple tree, play historical Native American games and cook a snack over an open flame. Explore the natural world while biking from Lake Waconia, to the library and historical society! The list of activities goes on! Each day with its own theme: Voyageur Excursion, The Natural World, Primitive Life and S.T.E.A.M. Campers are encouraged to bring their own bikes and helmet on Tuesday but can request a bike to be provided. Offered in partnership with the Carver County Parks Department, Waconia Community Education, Historical Society and Libraries.

Traveling Archery Camp August 20-22, 2019

Get your archers outdoors this summer for our three-day Travelling Archery Camp! Through fun games and experiential learning, our instructors will guide participants in improving their shooting techniques for hitting the target consistently. Camp will include field trips to multiple archery ranges in the local area. This camp is designed for youth with some prior archery experience. All necessary equipment will be provided. This program is in partnership between Carver County Parks Department, the City of Chanhassen Parks Department and Eastern Carver County Schools Community Education.
