May Charity Partner: Happy Tails Rescue / Cody’s Heroes
Monthly Auto Extravaganzas to Benefit Local Non-Profits
Cars and Caves, the outdoor auto extravaganza of Antique, Classics, Collector, Exotic, Muscle, and Street Rod cars hosted by Chanhassen AutoPlex, continues its 2023 season on May 27.
The event is held from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. on the last Saturday of each month, through September, and highlights a different local, non-profit organization. In May, Happy Tails Rescue and Cody’s Heroes will benefit from the generosity of guests who attend. Nonprofits will happily accept on-site donations. The show will also feature a salute to the military ahead of Memorial Day with a special presentation. It will include a performance by former Minnesota Wild anthem singer James Bohn, and Taps by Mound resident Gary Marquardt. The event will feature a flyover by the T6 Thunder Flight Team, adding to the patriotic atmosphere of the occasion.
Each month, more than 300 vehicles will roll in for display on the Chanhassen AutoPlex campus. Many of the 120 unique, personalized garage condos (referred to as Caves) will be open for visitors to see as well. Collector car owners are invited to attend and display their vehicle on a first-come/first-serve basis. Free, on-site parking will be available for guests.
Cars and Caves is family-friendly and free to attend, with food and beverages available on-site. This year, two Chanhassen businesses, Dog Park Gourmet Hot Dogs and Dandy Lion Coffee will be serving up tasty food and drinks each month.
